Meet Kyle

Kyle Hunlock was a 22-year-old graduate of the University of Toledo with a degree in environmental chemistry. Kyle was fortunate enough to have completed part of his studies at the University of Hertfordshire, England where he played on the (American) football team, as well as the baseball team.

In his younger years, Kyle was involved with his church and youth group. He played the role of the Cowardly Lion in the production of the Wizard of Oz in high school and graduated with honors. Kyle was always involved with sports. He participated in such athletic activities as: swimming, wrestling, football and baseball.

Amongst his peers, Kyle was well respected and thought of as a leader who was humble and had purpose. He had wisdom beyond his years and maintained relationships with a diverse circle of people. Kyle Hunlock and Kara Hunlock on their wedding day He never judged anyone, and would give a perfect stranger the shirt off of his back. Before graduating from college, Kyle married his high school sweetheart, Kara (Wireman). Together they were a dynamic couple with a bright future.

Kyle was fresh out of college and proud to be able to use his many skills that he had acquired through his educational training. Tragically however, Kyle had an accident. One day, while on the worksite, Kyle stepped through a piece of polystyrene (Styrofoam) that was covering a hole in the roof of a building that he was working on. Kyle plummeted 33 feet to the ground. Kyle survived for one week until he suffered a cerebral aneurism, leaving him brain dead.

Kyle had decided to be an organ donor at the age of 16. Because of that decision 8 organs were harvested and given to others in need. It is because of Kyle’s example and purpose in life that those who knew him are so compelled to make purpose from his death. To triumph over the tragedy if you will, and carry on the legacy of goodness that was so much of Kyle.

This non-profit organization is committed to reaching out and offering the hand of kindness, giving and support to those in need, as Kyle has demonstrated to us throughout his life.
